This block Colorado College aimed to accomplish the ridiculously ambitious goal of putting on an entire musical in 24 hours. With zero audition cuts, full lights and sound, this musical could only have been dreamt up by someone who has mastered procrastinating on the block plan.

The musical got off to a good start with all 82 actors in good spirits. However things immediately took a turn for the peculiar when one crew member realized that certain pre-show rituals never took place.

“A lot of people don’t know that we have a spirit that we like to describe as ‘sexually ambiguous but morally precise’ here in the theater” said Miranda Blanchett ‘25. “Our spirit tends to be upset when they are faced with prolonged exposure to Colorado College students these days and we’ve spent our fair share of off days washing ‘please wear deodorant’ and other messages like it off of floors and walls.”

It seems like the 24 hour show sent the spirit especially off edge when students started to mysteriously experience shocking visions of theatrical success. These visions immediately started to cause problems throughout the process as students started to overtake one another to center themselves more fully in the spotlight.

One particular instance involved one student physically tackling another to appear authentic in a scene depicting a group of nuns attending mass. This incident left two individuals with severe injuries requiring medical attention. In a separate incident it is believed a performer actually saw the spirit as he was seen sparring with an unseen entity for “a solid ten to fifteen minutes.”

“I was just absolutely tussling with this ghost but I’m glad it came off as authentic.”

This scene in particular got the attention of a casting director in the audience who found the physicality in the scene to be “informed by undeniable experience of life.” When asked, the actor in the scene Robert Swiney said, “I was just absolutely tussling with this ghost but I’m glad it came off as authentic.”

The remainder of the recital went well but onlookers were shocked during the actual show where in the middle of the show one of the actors faced a near death experience when a light fell from the theater ceiling. This incident seems unrelated to the spirit in the theater and in fact seems to be a result of an entirely separate force.

When asked to elaborate, members of the theater crew said, “oh yeah there’s also the demon. We keep forgetting about him!”
